The film premiered at the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival just before the Breaking Bad Masterclass, where Charlie Brooker interviewed Vince Gilligan. You can see the full session, including our film being introduced by Charlie here.
We started by working closely with the TV festival to develop the right style. We settled on a low-fi cut out photography approach, with overlaid doodles. The chosen treatment began life as this (left).
From here I worked up full colour storyboards. In this case, each scene as a useable layered PSD files that once approved could drop straight into After Effects and animated, which is why the final film is so close to the original storyboards. (below).
